We'll be direct with you about the law and realistic about outcomes, while doing everything possible to achieve a result that works for your family.

What We Handle

Areas of family law we cover

Divorce & Legal Separation

We guide you through every stage of the divorce process, from filing the initial petition to obtaining the final order, managing the legal complexities so you can focus on moving forward.

Child Arrangements

When arrangements for children need to be formalised — whether by agreement or court order — we ensure your child's welfare remains central throughout.

Financial Remedy Orders

Fairly dividing assets, pensions, and income following a separation requires expert negotiation. We work to secure settlements that reflect your contributions and future needs.

Pre-nuptial & Post-nuptial Agreements

A well-drafted agreement provides clarity and protection. We advise on terms that are fair, clearly expressed, and have the best prospect of being upheld.

Cohabitation Disputes

Unmarried couples face different legal challenges on separation. We advise on property rights, TOLATA claims, and financial support for any children.

Domestic Situations

Where safety is a concern, we act swiftly to obtain protective orders and injunctions. Our team is experienced in urgent applications and sensitive in approach.

How We Work

Our step-by-step process

01

Free Initial Consultation

Tell us about your situation. We'll listen carefully, explain the legal framework, and outline the options available to you — at no charge.

02

Strategy & Fee Agreement

We'll agree a clear strategy and provide a transparent fee estimate before any work begins. No hidden costs, no surprises.

03

Negotiation & Correspondence

Wherever possible, we seek to resolve matters through negotiation or mediation. This is faster, less costly, and often less stressful than court proceedings.

04

Court Proceedings (if required)

If agreement cannot be reached, we prepare thoroughly and advocate forcefully on your behalf. Our experience at all court levels means you're in capable hands.

05

Resolution & Closure

Once your matter is resolved, we ensure all orders are correctly drawn and enforceable, and that you're fully informed of your ongoing obligations.

Frequently Asked

Family law questions answered

How long does a divorce take?

Under the no-fault divorce process introduced in April 2022, the minimum time from application to final order is approximately 26 weeks. In practice, most uncontested divorces conclude in 6–9 months, though financial and child arrangements can add time.

What happens to the family home?

This depends on your specific circumstances. Options include one party buying out the other, a deferred sale (particularly where children are involved), or a sale and division of proceeds. We'll advise on the most appropriate approach for your situation.

Do I have to go to court?

Not necessarily. Many family matters are resolved through negotiation, solicitor correspondence, or mediation. Court proceedings are a last resort, but we're fully prepared to litigate when necessary.

Can I get legal aid?

Legal aid for family law matters is limited but may be available in cases involving domestic abuse or where children are at risk. We can advise on eligibility during your initial consultation.

What if my spouse and I agree on everything?

Even where there is agreement, legal advice is important to ensure any arrangement is legally sound and financially fair. We can assist in formalising agreements into binding court orders.
